An exceptional 19th century French ladies writing desk, beautifully crafted in richly figured walnut and finely crossbanded in kingwood, dating to circa 1870. Elegantly proportioned, the desk is adorned throughout with finely cast gilt bronze ormolu mounts and boasts graceful serpentine lines, cabriole legs and exquisite craftsmanship synonymous with the finest French cabinetmakers.
The structure features nine drawers including eight small serpentine-fronted drawers and one full-width drawer, flanking a central fitted cabinet, providing an abundance of practical storage. A pull-out leather writing slide offers a generous writing surface while maintaining the desk’s refined silhouette.
