Quality Australian 8 drawer serpentine cedar chest with fretwork and fruit carvings c.1890

This wonderful 8 drawer chest was made in Australia during the late 19th century.

Crafted from warm Australian cedar, this chest has a lovely patina which has developed over the years. The chest features 4 full width drawers, 2 hatboxes, and 2 third width drawers for smaller items. All run very well.

The chest has a beautifully shaped serpentine front which adds interest, and proves the high level of craftsmanship.

The central hatbox has blind fretwork paneling to the front which is a lovely feature. Decorative carvings of apples and pears adorn the side corbels which is unusual for Australian made pieces. The chest sits on turned feet.

A wonderful addition to your bedroom for extra storage, the new owner will not be disappointed with this fabulous piece.
