This stunning games table hails from France circa 1880.
Crafted from ebonised timber and incredible marquetry inlays that need to be seen to be believed, this table takes inspiration from the rococo period but is crafted in Louis XVI style. This piece is a truly magnificent piece of work by skilled artisans, that go down in French history as some of the greatest. It features turned and fluted legs and decorative ormolu mounts which finish the piece perfectly. This card table could of course be used as a magnificent statement side table.
The sides of the table are also inlaid with marquetry panels and string inlays which contrast beautifully with the ebonised timber. The edges are all gilt and cast beautifully, giving the table that luxurious finish that comes with high quality pieces.
The table lid swivels open and self supports to reveal a fully felted blue interior tabletop, perfect for playing cards and games. There is hidden storage within that is perfect for storing game items.
A wonderful piece for the living room, or can be used as a decorative side table in the hallway or entry.
