This beautiful card and games table hails from France circa 1870.
Crafted from walnut and other timbers, this truly elegant and understated piece was made in the French Louis XV style. With its graceful cabriole legs and decorative ormolu mounts, this games table can be multifunctional and used as an elegant side table.
The top of the table features a beautiful oval shaped marquetry panel, with a stunning floral spray and string inlays. There is crossbanding to the edges where different timbers meet. The gracefully curved exterior lines have been finished with immaculate ormolu edging. Ormolu mounts also adorn the cabriole legs and are gilt and cast beautifully.
The table swivels open to a self supported square top, which reveals a fully felted green interior, perfect for that game of cards or checkers. There is hidden storage underneath the tabletop that is perfect for storing game items.
A wonderful piece for the living room, or can be used as a decorative side table in an entry or hallway. Also best used for its intended purpose!
