Louis XV style French amboyna fitted jewellery table with ormolu mounts c.1870

This beautiful jewellery table hails from France circa 1870.

Crafted from amboyna, this stunning piece was made in the quintessential French Louis XV style. With its graceful cabriole legs and decorative ormolu mounts, this jewellery table can also be used as a pretty side table.

The top of the table features incredible parquetry inlays, and has circular corners, also inlaid with timber in a foliage style decoration. Furthermore, the table exhibits walnut and kingwood crossbanding – French craftsmanship at its best. The mounts are all gilt and cast beautifully, giving the table that French bling we all love. A lovely addition is a bronze cameo plaque to the front of the table featuring a cherub.

The table lid lifts up to reveal a fully fitted interior with compartments to store jewellery or other belongings. The inner lid is also fitted with a mirror. Original escutcheons and hinges are intact.

A wonderful piece for the bedroom or dressing room, or can be used as a decorative side table.
