William Ricketts Earthenware Bowl with Aboriginal faces & possum. Signed c.1940

Extraordinary earthenware sculptural bowl by renowned Melbourne artist/sculptor William Ricketts (b.1899-1993). Rickett’s vision was of a modern Australia that embraces Aboriginal spirituality and respect for the natural world.

The bowl is of a long oval shape and features detailed carvings of Indigenous faces and a lovely possum. Signed and inscribed with his name & address to base. This is truly a special piece.
