English oak 4 drawer writing desk with tooled leather top c.1870

A lovely English oak writing desk made circa 1870.

This desk is the perfect size – not too big and not too small! In quintessential Victorian style, it features beautifully turned legs and four drawers (including one double height). Drawer fronts have been carved and include original brass escutcheons and keys.

The patina on this Victorian writing desk is wonderful, with the fantastic grain of the oak showing strongly through the gentle polish. The real feature of this desk is the cigar coloured tooled leather leather top with keyed edging, again with a fantastic patina and a history that makes you wonder who used to own this desk?!
