Exquisite Pair of English Glass Girandoles, circa 1820
A superb and rare pair of early 19th-century English glass girandoles, beautifully crafted circa 1820. These elegant centrepieces exemplify the refined taste and technical skill of the Regency period, with finely cut and moulded glass throughout.
Each girandole features a tall central stem rising from a square plinth base, supporting four scrolling branches fitted with flower-shaped nozzles. The forms are richly embellished with cascading faceted prisms and delicate drops, designed to catch and refract candlelight with exceptional brilliance. The symmetry and proportion of the pair create a striking visual presence, whether displayed on a mantel, sideboard, or dining table.
Remarkably well preserved, retaining their original glass drops, these girandoles offer both sculptural beauty and historical significance. Decorative yet functional, they represent a highly desirable example of English Regency glass, equally suited to classical interiors or as a dramatic contrast in more contemporary settings.
