Louis XV style card table with marquetry inlays and ormolu mounts c.1870
13/07/2026Louis XVI style ebonised marquetry jewellery table with ormolu mounts c.1880
This beautiful jewellery table hails from France circa 1880.
Crafted from ebonised timber and incredible marquetry inlays, depicting a musical instrument, floral displays, an urn, and foliage motifs. A truly decadent piece of work by wonderful artisans. This stunning piece was made in the quintessential French Louis XVI style with carved and fluted legs and decorative ormolu mounts and urn to the stretcher base. This jewellery table could of course be used as a pretty side table.
The sides of the table are curved, and the side edges are also inlaid with marquetry panels – French craftsmanship at its best. The mounts and gadrooned edges are all gilt and cast beautifully, giving the table that pop of French bling we all love.
The table lid lifts up to reveal a fully fitted satinwood interior with compartments to store jewellery or other belongings. The inner lid is also fitted with an oval shaped mirror. Original decorative escutcheons, keys, and hinges are intact.
A wonderful piece for the bedroom or dressing room, or can be used as a decorative side table.
This can be delivered to Melbourne for $165, Sydney $330, Brisbane $440. Contact us for a quote if you are elsewhere.
