A beautiful pair of birds eye maple frames c.1840 containing later embroideries.
The embroideries depict noblewomen, one facing the front, the other facing the side, dressed in regal gowns. These look to be hand painted or screen printed onto the silk fabric, and finished off with machine stitching to show definition.
The wide frames have a beautiful patina and an inner gold rim. The embroideries are glass covered for protection.
